MATTHEW
Underbite
Matthew was initially referred to our practice at the age of 7 by his Pediatric Dentist that was very concerned about how his jaw was growing. In the normal jaw growth, the upper jaw should be growing ahead of the lower, but Matthew was developing an Underbite. If not corrected early, then the jaw will continue to grow in the wrong direction progressively making the problem worse. We used growth modification to help improve his jaw growth to allow the adult teeth to mature properly. As the adult teeth grew in Matthew had treatment with fixed braces for 18 months to finalize his bite and alignment. By helping his jaw growth early, we were able to avoid future jaw Surgery and tooth extraction.
