Dr. Waffles
Chief Emotional Support Officer at Smile Orthodontists. A miniature golden retriever with no formal training, an exceptional bedside manner, and a perfect record of making first appointments feel a lot less scary.
Dr. Waffles is not a real doctor. He is, however, extremely good at his job.
Dr. Waffles is the practice’s resident miniature golden retriever and the only member of the team who has never once been asked to floss. He holds no degrees, has passed no boards, and has never straightened a single tooth. What he brings instead is a rare clinical gift: he can walk into a room and make a nervous eight-year-old forget she was nervous.
His responsibilities include greeting patients at the door, supervising the waiting room, performing scheduled rounds of the treatment area, and accepting compliments with grace. He has sat in on a great many consultations and has yet to disagree with a single one of Dr. Vaysman’s treatment plans. Colleagues describe him as calm, attentive, and unusually fluffy.
Outside the office, Dr. Waffles lives with Dr. Vaysman’s family in Tenafly, where he specializes in evening walks and the patient, long-distance supervision of dinner. He is hypoallergenic in spirit only.
Dr. Waffles keeps regular office hours, but he is never mandatory. If you or your child have allergies, are nervous around dogs, or would simply prefer undivided attention, mention it when you book and he will take a well-earned nap in the back. He will not take it personally. He will take a treat.
A Dr. Waffles smile is not like any other smile. Forty-two teeth, zero retainers, total commitment.
